Getting to the Conference

BY CAR  

By road, the campus can be entered from Yarra Boulevard, if coming from the north, or turn off Swan Street via F.R Smith Drive onto Boulevard. Follow signs to ‘Burnley Sidings’.

Parking Options
While there is no parking on the Burnley Campus a number of other parking options are available:

  • Limited university parking behind the campus. There are spots available in the university carpark, but you need to arrive before 8.30am to be able to find a place as they will fill up quickly. Directions to carpark: Enter carpark via Botannica Drive, right hand turn off Swan St, heading away from the city, follow the road around until you get to the back of the university. The University buildings can be reached from a gate located next to the carpark.
  • Ample meter parking on the Yarra Boulevard (riverside), directly opposite the University (Meter parking $4-a day). Parking is accessed via F.R Smith Drive, onto Yarra Boulevard and follow signs to ‘Burnley Sidings’.
  • 4 hour free parking along Yarra Boulevard (university side), directly next to University.
BY TRAM  

From Flinders Street Station (city) along Exhibition St Extension on to Swan Street Route; No 70, stop 18.

Route No. 75, stop 29. Along Riversdale Rd heading west
Route No. 70, stop 18 and
Route No. 75, stop 29.

BY TRAIN  

The nearest train stations are Burnleyon Lilydale, Belgrave, Alamein or Glen Waverly lines (and then tram along Swan Street), or Heyington on the Glen Waverley line.



Useful Information

REGISTRATION DESK 

The registration desk will be located outside the Canteen / Student Amenities Building, It will be manned by your conference organisers, Iceberg Events.

Registration desk operating hours
Thursday, 24 September: 8.00am – 5.00pm
Friday, 25 September: 8.00am – 5.00pm

Upon arriving at the conference please report to the registration desk to receive your delegate kit. Should you need to contact the conference organisers outside of these hours, please call Emma Tooth on 0409 270 350.
 
DIETARY REQUIREMENTS 

All dietary requirements which we have been notified of have been catered for. At the Conference dinner please identify yourself to the staff for your meal.

Thursday 24th September 2009 - Registration Information & Starting Times

The registration desk will be open from 8.00am on Wednesday  23rd September 2009. Delegates are required to visit the registration desk on arrival to collect their name badge and conference satchel. You will be required to wear your name badge at all times as this is your 'entry ticket' to all sessions.

The first session on Wednesday will begin at 9.00am. Throughout the day delegates will be provided with morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.

Friday 25th September 2009 -  Workshop Information & Starting Times

On Friday 25th September the following three workshops will be held:

GR 101 - GREEN ROOF DESIGN & INSTALLATION
Time: 9.00am - 5.00pm (Full Day Workshop)

SPECIFYING SUBSTRATES AND PLANTS FOR AUSTRALIAN GREEN ROOFS
Time: 8.30am - 12.30pm (Half Day Workshop)

GROUND UP PLANNING: TRANSFORMING URBAN BROWNFIELDS IN GREEN ROOF INFRASTRUCTURE
Time: 2.00pm - 4.00pm (Half Day Workshop)
Where: Room MB10
Dress: Smart Casual
Presenter: Benjamin Nicholson, VIC-TAS Coordinator, Green Roofs Australia

The registration desk will be open from 8.00am on Friday 25th September for those who have not yet collected their name badge. Delegates who have previously visited the registration desk for the conference on Thursday 24th September are not required to re-register.

Throughout the day all workshop delegates will be provided lunch. Delegates attending the GR 101 Workshop and the Substrates and Plants workshops will also be provided with morning tea while delegates attending the GR 101 Workshop and the Ground Up Planning workshop will also be provided with afternoon tea.


Green Roof and Walls Tour - Wednesday 23rd September

Delegates attending the Green Roofs Tour are required to meet at Flinders Street Station, on the corner of Flinders Street and Swanston Street at 8.00am on Wednesday 23rd September 2009.

The Green Roof & Walls Tour ends at the Roof Top Bar, Level 7, Curtin House, 252 Swanston Street.



Please note that as the Green Roof and Wall Tour is sold out, if you have not registered for the tour you will not be able to attend.

Green Roofs Conference Gala Opening - Wednesday 23rd September

When: 6.00pm - 8.00pm, Wednesday 23rd September
Where: Melbourne Town Hall’s Portico Room
(Entry is via the main doors, near the corner of Swanston Street and Collins Street)
Cost: Included in conference registration

The Green Roofs Conference Gala Opening will be at the Melbourne Town Hall’s Portico Room. Delegates can enjoy drinks, canapes and some fantastic speakers while getting to know each other.
